Your Privilege is Showing

Damn it must be great to be White!
The Story
Shannon Blick, a White female principal, is suing Ann Arbor Public Schools because she believes she’s being discriminated against due to her Whiteness. In April of 2019, Mike Madison, another principal within the district whom happens to be a Black man told Shannon that she was implicated in assisting a custodian steal $25,000 over the last 4 years. Madison suggested that she go on a medical leave until things settle or blow over.

Women in Congress you should know!

Ever since orange face has been in office I have been going out of my way to disassociate myself from the political world. I had been avoiding political conversations, Tweets, articles, in any form of media that I could think of. I mean lets face it discussing politics opens a person like myself up to be ambushed by racist.. Not just any racist but the ones that don’t think they are racist which are the worst kind in my opinion. Not to mention the things that have been happening are just utterly ridiculous and unbelievable! Continue reading “Women in Congress you should know!”

Motor City Pride Nazis and Chief Craig

THE FACTS WITH A SMIDGE OF SARCASM AND OPINION

Last weekend was Motor City Pride, and should have been a joyous weekend for the LGBTQ+ community and those who love and support them. However, to the surprise of Motor City Pride attendees, they were met by a hate group -The Neo Nazis! The Nazis marched through Downtown Detroit with AR-15s and at least two other types of guns, and had huge shield guards. Of course everyone was surprised except the Detroit Police Department and The Police Chief James Craig. Continue reading “Motor City Pride Nazis and Chief Craig”

Ban on abortions

Politics and spit!
I’ve been contemplating how to go about this article, and decided to start off with the legal aspect. There are 3 branches of the Government: The Executive branch, which is the highest, and is what the President of the United States (if we had one) would fall under; The Legislative branch, which is what members of the House and Senate (Congress) fall under; The Judicial branch, which is what the Supreme Court and lower courts fall under. Long Live Nip

Victory Lap

When I heard Nipsey was murdered I was sitting in the living room at my friend’s house. I immediately felt the anxiety building inside of me, and great sadness. In all honesty the first person I thought about was Lauren London, and then his children. I got online to look for credible sites to verify that this tragedy was indeed true. Like many people I didn’t understand it, because everyone seemingly loved Nipsey. I loved Nipsey! Continue reading “Long Live Nip”

The Divide

THE DIVIDE:
If you don’t pay attention to public policy, politics, and our ever changing culture, you could find yourself in a world of confusion. Most importantly, you have to know where you stand. There has always been conflict in the Black community because there has always been different types of Black people: The Black people that are simply trying to make it, and the Black people that think they are better than other Black people because their speech, hair, job/career, education, and dwelling spaces are different.

Terrorist Gregory Bush took the lives of two Black senior citizens Maurice Stallard (69) and Vickie Lee Jones (67)on October 25th, 2018 in Louisville, KY. He then exited the Kroger and saw Vickie Lee Jones in the parking lot and shot and killed her as well. Two lives taken away all because he couldn’t gain access to First Baptist church of Jeffersontown. Continue reading “Terrorist Attacks and facts”

Rock The Vote

In my mind voting is always crucial. If you’re a Black Person (Meaning any person that has African ancestry) rather you believe that your vote counts or not should understand the importance. Our people were given intellectual test, beaten, attacked by dogs, and killed for the right to vote! Even after all of that some Blacks specifically in America still were not allowed to vote. Success and being reminded of your Blackness: Serena

It’s been a media storm since Serena spoke up for herself to an umpire at The U.S. Grand Opening. He accused Serena Williams of receiving coaching while playing. To add insult to injury, when she addressed the umpire about his calls he then charged her with abusive language. Serena stated that every time she is invited to the U.S. Open they have an issue with her. She also stated that men say whatever they want out of emotion and they are never penalized for those emotions of anger and frustration. Yet, Serena was being brutally punished. What Serena didn’t mention is the even bigger issue; Not only is she a woman, but she is a Black woman. Ultimately with the penalties and points taken from Serena, Naomi Osaka won the U.S. Open. With so much controversy surrounding the game Naomi didn’t really get to properly relish in the moment of winning. Continue reading “Success and being reminded of your Blackness: Serena”
