Why Oprah & Gayle will never be my Aunties

IMG-5019Both Oprah and Gayle are pioneers of the media. They are both what is considered to be high profile, accolade decorated, researching journalists that have been in media for 30+ years. Knowing these details about them only increases my sadness, because honestly they know better than most, that their behavior is damaging and toxic to society.

THE JOB OF MEDIA
The actual job of the media is to inform the public of facts without bias. What we are accustomed to is the media reporting stories that they created because it sounds good or interesting, and doesn’t necessarily involve the truth. We’re used to the media reporting a very biased opinion in an effort to sway us in one way or the other.
BACK TO OPRAH AND GAYLE
It seems that Oprah has been on a personal crusade to crucify Black men for some reason. She started with interviewing the men who claim that Michael Jackson sexually violated them. Although this case was very old and proven to be invalid many years ago, it was a “hot topic’ because of a documentary created about the case. Note: When Michael Jackson was still alive and well, Oprah was his number one fan! Then she wanted to tag her name along with a documentary about Russell Simmons allegedly participating in sexual misconduct. I say alleged because he has not been charged and/or prosecuted for anything as far as I know. Now, since Kobe’s death, Oprah has been promoting his 17year old rape allegations…
It was Gayle’s interview, however, that took the cake for me. We all know that Gayle is Oprah’s best friend and lapdog. Gayle interviewed WNBA star Lisa Leslie who is an all around class act. Gayle held no bars when asking Lisa Leslie what she thinks about Kobe’s complicated legacy. She then asked specifically about the rape case and put emphasis on her being a woman, like she should feel a way because of that. When Leslie didn’t change her stance on the great person that she knew Kobe Bryant to be, Gayle pressed the issue in a desperate attempt to get Leslie to change her mind. It is quite uncomfortable and yet upsetting to watch.
I’ve been trying to figure out if these are desperate attempts for Oprah and Gayle to stay relevant in the media world, or is this an attempt to stay on top with the “MAN”? I have yet to figure out why Oprah Winfrey or Gayle haven’t hosted a special on Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, or Charlie Sheen. I watched Gayle have a respectable interview with Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer. She wasn’t pushy at all. Gayle wasn’t trying to make Weinstein’s female lawyer fold or feel guilty for her stance. Both Harvey and Kevin have been accused of rape, and I didn’t see any interviews from Oprah or Gayle in an effort to press Charlie Sheen’s sex partners to say he didn’t warn them that he had HIV.
It seems that Oprah and Gayle are either on the “destroy Black men” agenda to be accepted by White feminists, just hate Black men altogether, are trying to stay messy and relevant, or they are trying to stay in favor with those that truly rule the industry.
WHY THEY CANT BE MY AUNTIES
Oprah and Gaye could never be my Aunties because they seem to have forgotten the propaganda that White America created about Black men. They (White America) created the idea that Black men wanted White women and would do anything including being sexually violent (rape) in an effort to have them. This is why White families tell their daughters to stay away from Black men. On the other hand Black families have experienced their men (sons, brothers, uncles, fathers,) dying and losing their careers behind false rape allegations made by White women. The PBS documentary of the KKK shows just exactly how White Americans put that fear out into the public. Yet we know historically that White men are the violent rapist.
