Africans in Ukraine

The media has been reporting the news of Russia basically starting a war with Ukraine. It’s also been discussed pretty heavily that Ukrainians don’t want to go to war. The media has been showing clips of Ukrainians crying and begging for this to stop. The media has done a great job of showing Ukrainians as victims of war.

What the media hasn’t shown is Ukrainians demonstrating their active racism towards the Black Africans in Ukraine. Many Africans are there for medical studies and sports. The Ukrainian officers are supposed to transport them to safety by train. The trains destinations are to either Poland or Romania. However, guards were telling Blacks that Ukrainians have to go first, then the Turkish, and then them.

There have been countless videos shown on social media of Africans sitting and waiting for 12 hrs or more to get on a train. A woman was outside with her infant in 3 degree weather because she and her baby are Black and haven’t been allowed to board. Ukrainians and their authority have been recorded literally pushing the Blacks away and letting the Ukrainians go ahead of them. I have yet to see any media coverage discussing this issue.

It’s important to know that black skin isn’t safe anywhere! In times of destitute, war, etc racism still comes first! So, for the people praying for Ukrainians save your prayers for the Africans that they are mistreating and trying to prevent from getting to safety.

Todays Black Activist!

It’s no secret that Black people in America have had a tremulous relationship with the Government and “Authority” figures altogether. From being beaten for speaking our native languages, being stripped from our original cultures and religions, to Black women being raped by slave masters to produce more slaves and separating us from our family and children, we have constantly been under attack and hunted by slave catchers- which now translates to the police.  Continue reading “Todays Black Activist!”

Colorism and nappy hair

GOOD AND BAD HAIR VIDEO CLIP FullSizeRender

COLORISM IS STILL A THING! Unfortunately we have Black celebrities making negative comments about the richness of chocolate skin! We have to hold everyone accountable. It’s a hard lesson on thinking before you speak. Not to mention that it is extremely important to dig deep and educate oneself on why a person has those types of feelings. Eva of #RHOA constantly makes distasteful comments about skin color and hair texture. Then she back pedals when called out on her nonsense! Continue reading “Colorism and nappy hair”

Your Privilege is Showing

Damn it must be great to be White!
The Story
Shannon Blick, a White female principal, is suing Ann Arbor Public Schools because she believes she’s being discriminated against due to her Whiteness. In April of 2019, Mike Madison, another principal within the district whom happens to be a Black man told Shannon that she was implicated in assisting a custodian steal $25,000 over the last 4 years. Madison suggested that she go on a medical leave until things settle or blow over.

I’ll take yo MAN!

If you haven’t heard the female rap group duo City Girls remake of Salt and Pepper’s hit I’ll take your man,” you may want to check it out. It’s been played all over the radio and in night clubs. The City Girls album is full of raunchy lyrics following in the footsteps of other female rappers with Miami slang. Recently The group has been under a lot of scrutiny due to group member JT being locked up for previous charges of fraud, but the worst critiques have been based on group member Yung Miami’s speech (Yet y’all calling people that commit fraud to get y’all Christmas gifts). Miami first shocked the world when she asked if people wanted to get “flewed out” instead of flown out. There were so many comments and retweets making fun of the new rapper, she made a rebuttal. This week she’s being criticized for mispronouncing a city’s name in Michigan.

People have been verbally attacking Miami. Calling her dumb an idiot and everything in between. You don’t have to agree with the rappers lyrics, like their speech or like their truths. But what everyone should be doing is respecting the fact that they come from streets of Miami and are actively trying to improve their quality of life. What really bothers me the most is that I personally don’t believe they would receive such backlash if they weren’t Black women. Continue reading “I’ll take yo MAN!”

Success and being reminded of your Blackness: Serena

It’s been a media storm since Serena spoke up for herself to an umpire at The U.S. Grand Opening. He accused Serena Williams of receiving coaching while playing. To add insult to injury, when she addressed the umpire about his calls he then charged her with abusive language. Serena stated that every time she is invited to the U.S. Open they have an issue with her. She also stated that men say whatever they want out of emotion and they are never penalized for those emotions of anger and frustration. Yet, Serena was being brutally punished. What Serena didn’t mention is the even bigger issue; Not only is she a woman, but she is a Black woman. Ultimately with the penalties and points taken from Serena, Naomi Osaka won the U.S. Open. With so much controversy surrounding the game Naomi didn’t really get to properly relish in the moment of winning. Continue reading “Success and being reminded of your Blackness: Serena”

The Future President

img_6718

I was awakened this morning by a text message from my friend saying she was questioning so much about the world at the moment. I knew then that Donald Trump won the Presidency. To be honest, I’m not really sure how I feel, besides disgusted. While the numbers were being reported last night I tried my very best not to watch it. Yet, when my 10 year old niece called me and said “Ti Ti it’s really bad!” I indeed became nervous. Not to mention my Daddy was so distraught he just decided to sleep rather than watch the numbers. Who’s going to help us?

stop

After hearing about Alton Sterling, of North Baton Rouge, being murdered by the police I immediately felt dizzy. When I was able to view the gruesome shooting my chest began to feel tight and I could feel the chunks of vomit building up in my throat. All of these thoughts and images of the different men and women that have been killed by the police started to play in my mind like a movie. Then I started to think about how I would be harassed via social media if I decided to speak out against police brutality. Continue reading “Who’s going to help us?”
